FIVE FEEL GOOD STORIES FROM AROUND THE COUNTRY

We have been saturated with enough serious, sobering and negative news lately so I wanted to compile some good feeling stories from around the country to lift us up.  Here are five feel-good stories to uplift you and warm your heart:

#1 – Last week, an anonymous patron who regulars a restaurant called Skillets in Naples, Florida handed a stack of bills totaling $10,000 to the restaurant manager with directions to give each employee $500 since the restaurant would soon be shut down for the COVID-19 statewide closure. #2 – On March 23, 2020, JOANN fabric Stores began donating materials to anyone looking to sew together masks, gowns, or other essential medical equipment for healthcare workers. JOANN is offering “Ship-to-Home” or “Curbside Pickup” options, so customers won’t need to come into the stores.  According to a press release on JOANN’s website, entities in need of supplies should contact joannplus@joann.com.  They also announced that they will open their classrooms—while adhering to social distancing guidelines—to any who wants to help make these essential items. Participating locations will offer sewing machines, materials and guidance to help customers safely make face masks and covers, gowns, and other items to donate to America’s hospitals.  (source:  www.goodnewsnetwork.org)

#3 – Amazon has unlocked more than 40 new children’s shows for all of their customers to watch for free, regardless of Prime membership. Audiobook platform Audible has also released a number of free audiobooks for users to stream from their devices.  “For as long as schools are closed, we’re open. Starting today, kids everywhere can instantly stream an incredible collection of stories, including titles across six different languages, that will help them continue dreaming, learning, and just being kids,” reads the Audible website. “All stories are free to stream on your desktop, laptop, phone or tablet. Explore the collection, select a title and start listening. It’s that easy.  More than 2,500 art museums and galleries have also partnered with Google to offer free virtual tours and displays of their collections to art lovers around the world.  (source:  www.goodnewsnetwork.org)

#4 – Sanity for Parents/Fun for Kids: A personal trainer and fitness influencer Joe Wicks, better known as the Body Coach, is helping parents who are homeschooling their children by streaming 30-minute long live PE classes that children can do from their homes.  He calls it P.E. with Joe. This will happen Monday-Friday at 9am on his YouTube channel:  The Body Coach TV. (source: www.elle.com/uk)

#5 – Michelin-star chef Massimo Bottura is teaching free online cooking classes during this time when people are stuck at home and restaurants across the world are closed.  Every night, Chef Bottura is streaming how he prepares his nightly meals.  He is calling the live streams “Kitchen Quarantine,” which takes place at 3pm ET on his official Instagram account.  Find him on Instagram @massimobottura (source:  www.sunnyskyz.com)
