Don’t let negative self-chatter keep you from what you want in life. You are stronger than you believe. You are smarter than you believe. You can do anything you put your mind to. You can have anything you want. There is nothing standing in your way EXCEPT your negative self-chatter.
The words that you say to yourself slow down the arrival of your dreams: “I am not ready.” “I am not prepared.” “I am not worthy.” These words you tell yourself hold you back or cause you to throw away your dreams altogether. Do you want to give these words power over your life or do you want to take control?
You can ignore the self-chatter or you can change the self-chatter. If you choose to ignore the self-chatter, it will require constant work. Every time a negative statement creeps up, you will need to immediately recognize it and then consciously ignore it. How do you ignore it? Change the subject. Immediately think of something else that is positive. It takes constant effort and all you are doing is basically putting a bandaid over the habit.
On the other hand, if you CHANGE the negative self-chatter, it will require effort in the beginning until you develop a rhythm and then a habit that becomes automatic. You will need to be mindful when those negative statements start to creep up. You will need to catch the negative expression as quickly as possible and turn it into a positive one. This will take practice and repetition, but soon you will get into a rhythm.
So, the next time you say to yourself: “I am not good enough”, change it to “I am learning and I am growing and I am good enough.” If you have some negative phrases you say to yourself on a regular basis, you can help yourself by writing them down and then writing the positive counterpart next to the negative ones. Read the list, repeating the negative and positive phrases over and over again and memorize them. Then, when these phrases come up, you will be more automatic with your positive responses. Good luck. Have faith and BELIEVE. You CAN change a negative thought process with practice, determination and belief.
